Very low traffic, but I got super lucky by asking a guy. I’d guess you’d have to talk to people.―daniellorell

Horrible for getting in direction to Salzburg, majority goes to Germany, accept everyone that could take u a bit farther in direction of Salzburg, then it should be easier. Was changing positions between standing at the exit to the highway and asking at the station, asking is probably better.―Cajrumbummm

This spot isn't really best because of the nearby highway, so you can only stop cars coming from the gas station. Still, it's probably the best spot you can choose in the area. We wanted to head down toward Vienna/Graz, but an older French couple stopped on their way to Salzburg.―evasiskova

Got a local 2 km ride to a bus stop at St. Lorenz. Good spot at the Hofer exit imho. Cars don't go that fast, and people coming from Hofer have enough time to register you, and take you, if you're going south.I was heading to Wolfgangsee.

Awesome spot... BUTFirst of all, it's def the best spot on this Reststation i you don't want to ask around (for asking around it's better to go closer to Landzeit). Best for thumbing the ride because here the two roads meet and go to the highway, both from rest station and the local road. It's easy to switch between these two, as from both ways there is reasonable amount of traffic.
During my 1h 40mins of wait :') about 10 cars stopped, most of them going to Germany (via Passau) or just in the close area (Wels, Sattledt, etc.). I was heading to Salzburg and getting this direction was a bit challenging, but not impossible! (I even sadly rejected one car going to Gmunden, as I could'nt properly understand the guy's German accent, realised way too late that he could have taken me)

The cars don't have a perfect opportunity to stop but with the drive threw beeing directly beside the chance of finding somebody driving to Vienna/Linz is high―FinduZ

We were sleepeng near the gas station and started HH in the morning (8am) it wasn't that busy here at that. We were asking around and partly standing with a sign and then after two hours nice guy took us all the way to Salzburg.―Alenicevopice

Got a ride to Salzburg after two hours...but it was a public holiday in Germany so a lot of families with no room in cars.―cavalierrustique

At this moment gas station is under rebuilding and the place is almost dead. Only few cars stopped and it can be challenging to get something. I got extremely lucky with the driver, who used every possible stop on the highway to smoke a cigarette. Took me to Salzburg. When gas station will be finished and open it should be good.―mandat

Don´t start too early in the morning. We did and there was not too much traffic. After unsuccessfully trying to hitch the country road we came back split up and found a lift for each of us pretty quickly.―LJIsTooShort
